A healthy mind in a healthy body. That’s Mounira Mansour for you.
And the actress, model and TV presenter means business. She speaks French and Arabic, her father’s roots being in Tunisia. But she grew up in the Netherlands and sounds Amsterdamer even to me. Mounira was 20 when she decided to quite her Media and Management studies at HVA to start studying acting at the Collectief- Acteursschool in Amsterdam.
We first saw her on TV in 2007: she was Jamilla in “West Side”, a reality soap set in Amsterdam. Her next big project came two years later, when we got to know her as high school student Marjana El Asmi in the TV show “SpangaS” and the movie “Spangas on Survival”.
I meet Mounira in a Café’ in the posh Museumkwartier, but we haven’t got much time; she has a practice in an hour. She does karate, free fight and self defence, 4 to 5 times a week. She says she won’t have any carbs before her practice, and I can totally relate to everything she says… I already like her!
She continues -Exercise helps me stay toned. Plus I like knowing I can look after myself!- and she is definitely a girl you don’t want to mess with. I love her dedication and energy.
-Now it’s time for new things!- says Mounira. And with her latest move of joining Amsterdam Fashion TV as in-house presenter she finally combined her dream of TV hosting with her studies in media management and her passion and knowledge of fashion. She is very enthusiastic about the new adventure: she has already interviewed designers and covered fashion events and has plenty of ideas on what she can do next.
Mounira is cool, urban and chic, she has her own style and looks impeccable, the right face for Fashion TV. Before she goes we start speaking about clothes. She admits she has a walk in closet and I ask her for tips on how to keep a wardrobe fresh and up to date. Mounira shares her secret, which in its simplicity is pure genius: she swaps clothes with her girl friends. And then I remember some of the dresses I saw her wearing during Amsterdam Fashion Week. I wonder if she would be up for a trade… This is Mounira Mansour. What you see is what you get!
