According to Marchesa co-founder Georgina Chapman, the brand’s new Voyage collection is all about the good life.
“This is for the open-minded woman who loves to travel and wants pieces that can be taken from a day at the beach to a late dinner,” the designer told me at the launch event for the collection on last night. Georgina herself is planning her very own beach vacay to France pre-New York Fashion Week—no doubt she’ll pack some gorgeous pieces from this new collection!
While Marchesa (co-founded by Keren Craig) is known for its drop-dead-gorgeous beaded, feathered, and embellished evening gowns on the red carpet, the Voyage collection has the decadent essence of those stunning gowns—but lucky for us, that don’t have red carpet events on a regular basis— it’s more of a daytime or casual evening look. And, starting at $260, the collection—rife with embroidered caftans, bohemian jackets, and printed flowing dresses—comes at a much affordable price than the primary line.
Keren was wearing a dark printed dress from the collection that worked for cocktails but easily translates to beach by pairing it with flat gladiator sandals and and an oversize hobo bag. Georgina, on the other hand, was wearing an embellished black lace dress that looked pretty dressy, but she told me it was designed to be scrunched up and thrown in a suitcase. Every piece was created with this kind of functionality in mind.
Come see four looks from the new collection that I’m obsessed with! I’m calling this collection “laid-back glamour.”
