It was only a matter of time before model Freja Beha Erichsen landed a fashion design gig (she’s creating a capsule collection with the label Mother), and it will be full of what we would expect to see from the skinny-jean-loving minimalist: chambray shirts, black leather, and, yes, denim. Style.com reports the collection will be sold at Nordstrom this fall.
While we wait for Freja’s cool collection, I thought we could come up with a list of other well-known style stars who inspire us so often that we wonder why they haven’t created their own clothes!
Without further ado, here is my dream list of celebs who should get into the design studio, stat!
Kate Bosworth may have her own festival collection with Topshop, but personally, I don’t think anyone on the music festival circuit can hold a torch to Solange’s enviable sense of style. I love the fact that she isn’t afraid of bright pops of color, and frankly, she stands out (in a great way) from the sea of girls who refuse to break from the cutoffs/bra top/tank top tradition that you mostly see at Bonaroo, Coachella, and Glastonbury.
For this reason, I think Solange should either design her own line of festival-inspired clothing or just go ahead and start her own label. I’ll be the first in line to scoop it up!
On the topic of hats, Meg Ryan’s character in You’ve Got Mail wisely said: “Once I read a story about a butterfly in the subway, and today, I saw one! It got on at 42nd and off at 59th, where, I assume, it was going to Bloomingdale’s to buy a hat that will turn out to be a mistake, as almost all hats are.”
Normally, I would tend to agree with her on the topic of hats, but then there’s Miranda Kerr and her way with a fedora. Sure, she’s a model, but she has paired this hat style with everything from a maxidress to a chic tank top and skinny jeans and makes it look effortless.
I think Miranda should seriously consider designing a line of fedoras. It’s a unique idea and stands out from the rest of the celebs and their clothing lines. What do you think? Would you buy one of Miranda’s fedoras?
This might be a bold statement, but I think no actress on the scene right now wears a cocktail dress quite like Diane Kruger. Go ahead and google her name and cocktail dress and you’ll see what I mean.
Since Diane wears them so often, why doesn’t she consider designing a line of her own? Oh, and if she needs some advice, she could ask none other than her longtime designer friend Karl Lagerfeld! Who knows…maybe they could collaborate on a few looks!
As Nikki recently pointed out, Olivia Wilde is on a roll in the dress department. This actress can do no wrong on the red carpet! I love the fact that her looks are always classy. She leaves the weird cutouts at home and lately has been making a strong case for dressing like a lady. Even when she wears a sheer paneled cocktail dress, it looks totally appropriate.
Olivia, if you’re listening, why don’t you think about designing a few dresses in this style for yourself (um, and for me and everyone else who loves your sense of style)?
