An old trend has recently had a comeback: the Grill!
Created by Eddie Plein in the 80es, Grills are a type of jewelry made of metal, gold or platinum and studded with diamonds, worn over the teeth and generally removable. They began to be used by hip hop artists in New York City in the early 1980es, but they became widely popular in the mid-2000 due to the rise of Dirty South rap, when they attained mainstream pop culture status.
At the beginning Grills were a prerogative of hip hop stars, but today the trend is back and became fashionable among celebrities. Madonna, Rihanna and Lady Gaga are among the stars spotted wearing a Grill.
Katy Perry showed off her new accessory, worth aproximately 800€, at the last MTV Video Music Awards 2013.
Sporting the trend takes more than just being able to afford it: you’ll need the right style and personality to pull it off!
