In an attempt that clubs fashion with fair-trade, Livia Firth is spearheading the Green Carpet Challenge that has led to Net-a-porter acquiring sustainably produced designer offerings. And not just standing up but also striking many a pose for the cause is Hollywood’s sweetheart Emma Watson.
The shoot by Bjorn Iooss reveals the aesthetics fashioned on ecological ethics. “It is important for designers to be aware of what they can do to make a difference. Sustainable fashion doesn’t need to be boring.”
“We didn’t set out to create ‘green’ dresses, but rather to produce something responsibly that explores sustainability. The results play with fabric and construction to reflect a sense of fragility, but also the strength and positivity of what we hope will be a bright future,” explains Christopher Bailey.
