Next years we will watch two films based on the life of Yves Saint Laurent. The first is directed by Jalil Lespert and will star French actor Pierre Niney. The second film is directed by Bertrand Bonello. Both productions are expected to focus on the early life of the designer and his relationship with Bergé. The trailer gives us glimpses of what to expect, including an extended look at the creation of revolutionary YSL staples, the designer’s relationship with Pierre Berge and his drug fueled romps at Studio 54.
“Two films on YSL? I hold the moral rights over YSL’s work, his image and mine and have only authorized Jalil Lespert. A trial on the cards?” Tweeted the 82-year-old Bergé, according to the Telegraph. The producers of Saint Laurent said they’re not worried about the legal threats, but they would be dropping out of the race to get into theaters first and would stop shooting until September in the interest of artistic ambition.
