A week full of celebrations. I celebrated holidays, life, my friends and we mourned the people we lost. A week that made sure that the scale of life was balanced.
So do you want to know what made me smile, made me sick and what made me cry? Read on.
Today was the funeral of Sam Umarella, the father of one of my best friends Fitrah. It was a beautiful service, a sad one, but beautiful. Fitrah is such a strong person with the most pure soul a human can have, so seeing her sad or in pain hurts my heart. The thing I love about her is that she always see the beauty in sad situations, even on the funeral she took the time to acknowledge that the sun was shining. We all felt that it was a sign from above.
After the funeral, Lauretta, Jennifer and I got back in the car and went home. On the highway we got hit by another car. Our necks and backs were shot. Police came and I had to sit still for 30 minutes till the ambulance came. Even though we were shaking, freezing cold and just had the most emotional day we kept smiling. It could have been much worse. We were blessed that nothing major happened and that we were all still in one piece.
I was so occupied with my thoughts. I kept thinking of Fitrah and her family. Tears literally jumped out of my eyes randomly during the day. I needed some distraction. So after work I decided to go out with my one and only gay bestie Charlie. We went to club NYX were we had a blast, like we always do there. After a lot of drinks, a lot of dancing, more drinks and more silliness we went home. Time for bed only to wake up with a…
Hangover from hell. I am not kidding. I hate this feeling, why do I keep doing this to myself? I was a mess and useless for the whole day. So I decided to stay in bed and watch DVD’s. After binge watching some old episodes of ‘Roseanne’ and ‘Girls’ it was time for bed.
I like to stay busy and creative. So on my day of I decided to finish one of my demos. If you didn’t knew it already, I love to write music and sing. So today it was just me and my mic. Writing music is awesome.
Christmas Eve. What did I do? Exactly nothing. I had to work during the day and when I got home I watched the movie ‘The Butler’. It’s such a beautiful movie. It really is a must-see for all generations.
On Christmas day I went to my parents and brother in Blaricum. My brother is an amazing cook and he really spoils us with his talent ever year. Finger licking good I tell you. Christmas is all about family and I was happy to be surrounded by them. It was also nice to have some quality time with my niece and nephew. I don’t see my family that often so when I do I try to enjoy it as much as I can.
I have my own tradition for the second day of Christmas. I buy booze, chocolate and I watch the Bridget Jones movies. This year it was slightly different. My friend Tess joined me during this ritual. It was nice to have someone else to share this tradition with. I made us a home made dinner, we drank two bottles of wine and enjoyed each others company. A merry X-mas indeed!
Another sad day. Today was the funeral of the mother and grandmother of two of the most important people in my life. I feel helpless every time someone I love is hurting. The only thing I can do is show my respect and support my loved ones. And that’s exactly what I did. The funeral itself was touching and very beautiful. After the funeral we all went out for a quick bite at Sumo to reminisce and to enjoy each others company.
The year is almost ending. Enjoy your last weekend of 2013. I would like to wish everyone an awesome new year with lots of new experiences, a lot of love and even more laughter. Let’s make 2014 a year to remember!
P.S. Before the new year is starting I want to thank AFTV for giving this guy a chance to share his stories and his diary with your awesome readers.
