Inside The Mothership gives an exclusive look at the goings on at the helm of FENDI, including the S/S 2014 show, the opening of the new Milan boutique and the exhibition Making Dreams: Fendi and the Cinema. The documentary spotlights the luxury label’s innovations in textile fabrication, especially a particular technique of shaving fur to create texture, which Stockdale claims only the technicians at Fendi can do.
“For me, it’s not a challenge but a great honor to work with Karl,” offered Fendi CEO Pietro Beccari when asked about Lagerfeld’s notorious perfectionism. “He created the DNA of the company, basically. The challenge is that he’s never happy. He could change [the collection] until two hours before the show, one look or even one complete story, because he wants to be one hundred percent happy. Nine-eight is not enough.”
