If you’re constantly surrounded by makeup like we are, some of the holidays just glide by and we only recently realised that we are less than a week away from one of the most cherished or loathed holidays depending on whether you’re single or not.
In a perspective of beauty and cosmetics it’s a good day as any to get some more to offer to a special someone or yourself and please don’t judge us if we do both because in the wise words of Carrie Bradshaw, “shopping is my cardio”.
So here is a selection of edited beauty products to wear, offer or self-indulge on Valentine’s Day:
Serge Lutens, La Fille de Berlin eau de parfum – Forget your grandma’s old rose fragrance, this deep crimson fragrance inspired by Marlene Dietrich will sweep your significant other off his or her feet, it’s like being awash in a wave of dark red roses that is easily worn by either gender, sophisticated for any lady or gentleman and very office friendly.
MAC Cosmetics, VIVA Glam I lipstick – one of the most wearable reds that suits most complexions, if not all and have her wear it just for you, no one will mind this lipstick stain on their collar.
Les Beiges de Chanel Powder Compact – Is she a bronzer gal or does she like to highlight and contour? This powder compact in pristine white will make all the difference, your challenge is to select which shade to get, take a picture when she’s at her most happy and glamorous and ask at the Chanel counter, I’m sure you’ll get a helping hand.
NARS The Multiple in Orgasm – Offer NARS’ most iconic shade in their stick form, suitable for eyes, shades and lips will get her smiling and it’s a wonderful multi-purpose product and it will also make her makeup bag less heavy when travelling so it’s really a gift for both. Can serve as blush on pale to medium complexions or highlighter in deeper tones, there are other gorgeous shades but this one has the naughtiest naming.
Laura Mercier Soufflé Body Crème – We adore Laura Mercier’s Gourmand line and it’s quite literally a matter of taste, we tend prefer the crème brulée scented one, but the crème de pistache is equally delicious.
Tom Ford Bronzing Gel – It’s not makeup, it’s a grooming gel that’s basically what you need to sell this product, considering that in Asia men are over the 20% mark of overall makeup sales give your boyfriend the friendly boost he needs for that extra touch of bonne mine.
Lierac Shaving Foam and Balm – Men suffer almost daily irritation from shaving, after a lot of trials we keep going back to this Lierac line whose foam gives the blade an incredibly soft glide and the balm makes your skin feel incredibly pampered and the packaging is manly enough that we’ve even gave it to our 70 year young father that uses this to his heart’s content without feeling emasculated.
Filorga Sleep and Peel – If he’s lazy and hates to exfoliate give him a hint with Filorga’s cream that plumps up his skin and encourages cell turnover, as an added bonus you can use it too just make sure he doesn’t notice it.
Nuxe Crème Fraiche Serum – An extremely light and non irritating that can be easily be used by a man as a daily moisturiser with no greasy finish.
This just made us realise we haven’t done the proverbial holiday shopping yet… oh darn!
