Day seven on Amsterdam Mercedes Fashion week presents Mattijs van Bergen at the Van Gogh Museum
On day one of fashion week, the Dutch fashion fanatics flocked on day one as Mattijs van Bergen opened the show by reconnecting with his historical and cultural roots, and putting on a fashion show inspired by the techniques of painting and color by the Netherlands’ very own Vincent Van Gogh. Mattijs’; musical muse Jolanda van den Berg also made an interpretation of Starry Night officially created by Don McLean, and put audience in a romance and melancholy mood. Projections of a forest filled with raw graphic images by Niek Pulles , colored the scene with birch, and fall leaves in dream-like honor of one of the greatest painters of the Netherlands…Dutch master and hopeless romantic: Vincent Van Gogh.
On Friday, January 24, 2014, the 7th day of Amsterdam Fashion week, Van Gogh Museum opened its doors and exhibited Van Bergen’s renditions of Vincent Van Gogh’s painting collection in collaboration with the prestigious and more easily consumer accessible Van Gogh Museum. The selection of the Van Bergen’s collection were presented at the museum from 18:30-22:00 as beautifully posed Dutch models exhibited these highly colored floral pattern dresses, inspired by the paintings themselves as Mattijs Van Bergen was present to chat with the viewers of his show.
