Dare to Wear Red – Can all skin tones wear red blush?

Whenever we see it at the makeup counter it just beckons to us, sensual and alluring with a hint of danger that makes pale porcelain beauties and most women fear a red shade of blush, believing it to be more suited for more exotic skin tones.

And that is mistake number one, we naturally blush red and a hint of red blush under your foundation or powder can give  you that just flushed, back from a jog, mid winter cold kind of glow to our skin.

While we adore Chanel’s aptly named Rouge we have two other options for you to go all out if you don’t have a red shade in your makeup collection. First is our adored NARS Powder Blush in Exhibit A which is a deep matte red that looks almost clownish in the pan but layer it with a fluffy brush on your cheekbones, temples, horizontally on the bridge of your nose and chin and just see how far you can go and if by any chance you just add on a little too much just grab another brush with some pressed or loose powder and buff it away a more harsher tone.

Asides from the NARS cult classic, you have Kevyn Aucoin’s Fira which is a more warm/orange shade but also looks amazing on the skin and his incredibly pigmented and well worth the splurge, both these shades have no shimmer or glitter to them and while bright bold in their pressed form seems garish and too much, layered beneath a powder foundation or under loose powder can give you amazing looking skin with a from within glow.

So we ask you now, do you dar to to wear red?
