Lidija Kolovrat was born in Zenica, Bosnia and Herzgovina, in 1962.
Studied cinema at the Film Academy of Zagreb and later fashion design at the Design and Technology Collegue in the same Croatian city. In the early 90`s she arrives to Lisbon where became recognized has a prominente artist, showing her video art and installations regularly in galleries and museums. Her extensive work includes costume design for theatre, opera, movies and dance among other performing arts. In her interdisciplinary research and involvement with design Kolovrat opened Kolovrat Lab, an art space that was operated by her for 15 years as a platform for her to develop self work in fashion, which is present within Lisbon Fashion week and others. Kolovrat also applied her skills in teaching , workshops and master programmes within the Lab and its wide range activities. In 2010, after a brief interval in the German Capital she returns to Lisbon and starts Kolovrat 79 adding a new level to her project, Kolovrat lab roof at the first floor and store at the street level. The collection was inspired on Portuguese Catholic missions to Japan in the sixteenth century. The palette was composed by various scales of night blue, gold and red.
