Karl Lagerfeld continued his journey across the world (remember when he took Dallas for Chanel’s Pre-Fall 2014 show back in December?) with a stop in Dubai for Chanel’s Resort 2015 show. Below, the 10 most-talked about moments in the United Arab Emirates.
1. The Set

Lagerfeld transformed a cavernous hanger (located on a manmade island!) into a chic desert oasis complete with fake palm trees and lattice-work screens made from interlocking Chanel C’s. Guests arrived at the show via covered wooden boats.
2. The Headpieces

Every model had a different decoration; draped beads, interlocking C barrets, and headbands adorned with Chanel C’s made to resemble crescent moons all made appearances.
3. The Bags

As a nod to Dubai’s oil wealth (the United Arab Emirates is the 8th largest oil producer in the world), Chanel’s classic quilted bags came in the shape of gas cannisters.

There were also bags that came in the form of giant pearls. “You know, before Japan took over for pearls, this place was famous for them, so Chanel is very at home here,” Lagerfeld explained.
4. The Prints
Lagerfeld referenced traditional patterns of the Middle East with a mash-up of prints that called to mind Islamic tiles.
5. The Pants
Harem pants came in every shape and fabric imaginable—from wide-cut, sheer, and ruffled to slim, shiny, and floral-print.
6. The Hair
The model’s worked a vaguely ’70s hair moment with giant, back-combed bouffant ‘dos. Charlotte Free—who opened the show—looked particularly striking with her pastel pink locks.
7. The Eye Makeup

Twiggy-eyelashes and thick, smokey shadow was accented by a dab of gold at the inner corner of the eye.
8. The Treats
After the show, guests enjoyed a smorgasbord of traditional snacks, including baklava.
9. The Kid
The only male model was a wee young thing; Lagerfeld’s five-year-old godson, Hudson Kroenig, stole everyone’s heart when he closed the show in a white caftan and pointy shoes.
10. The Photo
Nothing can be written about this photo except that it is awesome.
