Here at Glamour, we’re no strangers to stripes, polka dots, or florals. Hey, we love a good print as much as the next. But this spring and summer, we declare more is…well, more. Try combining your prints for a matched set. It’s fresh and fun and everything we want to be wearing right now.
Print mixing is awesome (and I recommend everyone tries it this summer), but sometimes it’s just as bold to choose one and stick to it. So as to not feel like overwhelmed, follow our tips below.
- Mix proportions. Don’t let the print overwhelm you and make sure to keep the silhouette interesting in its own right. Mix a long-sleeve top with a pair of shorts, or a cropped top with a midlength skirt.
- Fake a one-piece look with separates. Fake the single-piece look with a matching top and bottom to ensure everything falls and sits exactly how you’d like it to.
- A single print doesn’t need to mean a single color. Tons of designers make the exact same print in a variety of colors, so this is your chance to fall somewhere between print mixing and print matching.
- Break up the prints with solid accessories or accents. It may be a neutral coat or a bright but solid clutch or shoes. Use these pieces to accent your look while simultaneously grounding the prints a little.
