The official trailer for 50 Shades of Grey debuted yesterday and it caused just the tiniest bit of buzz. I’ve never actually read the book and hadn’t planned on clicking on the clip until the name of fashion journalism got me moving.
Since then, I’ve watched it a half dozen times (sometimes with the sound off to feel less creepy, FYI) and have some fashion insights I want to share:
The color gray is worn approximately 21 times. From Christian’s power suits to the hoodie he wears while running in the rain to the robe Anastasia’s covered in while he’s carrying her toward the end, there’s a lot.
Bed sheets can mimic an elegant evening gown. For the scene where Anastasia walks toward Christian playing the piano, she appears to be wearing nothing but a sheet, flowing behind her. My first thought: I really, really love formal dresses with trains.
Actual boyfriends can make you want boyfriend jeans. After you’ve gotten over taking in Jamie Dornan and all his glory, you’ll notice his jeans. If you’re like me, it’ll remind you why you love boyfriend jeans so much: the low fit, the roomy legs, the way they’re meant to feel that you stole them off your guy’s floor and pulled them on.
Have you guys all already watched the trailer? Will you definitely see the movie when it comes out?
