The Only 5 Accessories on My Fall Shopping List Pack a Major Style Punch

Because I’m a fashion writer, it feels like I’m always shopping and…I kind of am (insert guilty-face emoticon here). While I’ll always advocate snapping up amazing sale finds or buying a random piece you simply adore, there’s a lot of value behind scrutinizing your current wardrobe and what you need out of it and then setting out to fill holes. So what accessories do I hope to add to my closet this fall?

1. A classic chain-strap bag
This style is never going anywhere, ever, and after taking a survey of my bags, it became apparent I’m very into leather totes and satchels I carry in the crook of my elbow—and not proper ladylike bags worn over the shoulder. For a variation, though, the straps can go long to be worn cross-body, making it an even smarter buy.

2. Pointy-toe oxfords
Skimmers with a pointed toe feel like the perfect punctuation to many an outfit, whether an A-line dress or skinnies and a tee. The problem is that crisp fall air can feel chilly on exposed skin. And the solution? Proper lace-up oxfords with the same sharp look but more coverage.

3. A new everyday necklace
My jewelry philosophy is to find pieces you love and leave them on. The current assembly I rock on the daily come with me to bed, the gym, and the shower. I’m always on the lookout for something new though, and since I’ll have a new last name this fall (a.k.a. I’m getting married), I’m feeling like it’s a wonderful opportunity to get some new monogrammed pieces.

4. A silk kerchief
This trend equally fascinates and intimidates me, but I’m steeling my nerves to be brave and give it a go. I’ve got a ton of warm and fuzzy scarves for keeping me warm, but now I want a silky small guy to knot around my neck all Parisian-like.

5. Bold studs
Even though I advocate wearing the same accessories on the daily, I do wish I switched up my earrings more often. This bright color pairing will add pizazz to anything I’m wearing, and they’re so wallet-friendly, I won’t feel guilty if I lapse back into stud-monotony sometimes.
