Rodrigo famously collaborated with Lady Gaga to accessorise the now legendary “meat dress” worn at the World Video Music Awards. In collaboration with stylist, Patricia Fields, he designed the jewelry for the blockbuster romantic comedy “Sex and the City 2” which reprised roles from the previous film and TV series for Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Kristin Davis, and Cynthia Nixon. His jewels have been worn by celebrities seen at all the major industry award ceremonies including the Oscars, Emmys, Tonys, and the Grammys. His jewelry is also a favorite of mainstream popular music icon, and star of the Hollywood Walk of Fame, Britney Spears, who chose to collaborate with Rodrigo on accessorising her ensemble for her unforgettable live appearance involving a boa constrictor at the MTV’s Music Awards extravaganza.
Rodrigo’s creations are a magnet for fashionistas and stylish women in all of the world’s most prestigious fashion hubs including Paris, Moscow London, Milan, New York, and Tokyo. His flagship LRCO store in New York showcases his newest creations including those from his “Made with Love” collection, recently modelled by Katy Perry for Italian L’Uomo Vogue and by Christy Turlington, reknowned Calvin Klein and Vogue model.
In addition to his deluxe prêt-a-porter jewelry using Swarovski crystals, cabochons and semi-precious stones, Rodrigo’s ranges also include a pure Silver range and a unique, one-off Diamond collection. Rodrigo’s relationship with Swarovski is significant and enduring. He counts himself amongst one of Swarovski’s celebrated and chosen designers making jewels for Swarovski’s “Atelier” workshop range, as well as personally designing the jewels that Nadia Swarovski wore to the Swarovski “Fashion Rocks” concert at London’s Royal Albert Hall.
As an artist, Rodrigo works with some of the world’s most high profile fashion photographers including Sten Marcel, Steven Klein, and Mario Testino whose celebrity subjects most famously included Diana, Princess of Wales. Rodrigo collaborated with Nicola Formichetti, Creative Director at Mugler, and stylist of choice of Lady Gaga, on a short film that served as a backdrop to Mugler’s show at Paris Fashion Week. The film featured Lady Gaga wearing designs by Rodrigo in his signature Swarovski crystal.
In demand outside of the celebrity world, he was commissioned by the makers of the James Bond film, “Quantum of Solace” to create a Swarovski crystal-encrusted gun for the film’s premiere in 2008 in Amsterdam, and the car manufacturer, Nissan, engaged him to embellish a promotional edition of the Nissan Micra. Rodrigo has been recognised internationally with awards and prizes in including the Dallas Fashion Award and the Eclat de Mode Award.
Born in Argentina in 1968 into an artistic family, the flames of Rodrigo’s aspirations were fanned by the world he grew up in; his mother was a Fashion TV presenter and his father was a Photographer. Musically gifted, and excelling in art subjects Rodrigo, inspired by the story of Madonna, set off on a journey of discovery at the age of 17yrs. He arrived in New York with aspirations of creating jewelry and working in the fashion world, while holding onto his dreams and the $50 he had in his pocket. True to his dream, he was discovered and launched into the fashion world by Australian Vogue after he designed a pearl necklace based on his first view of Sydney Harbour.
Rodrigo now divides his time between Amsterdam – where he says he found his wings, and New York – where he says he learned to fly, and where today he lives, works and continues to find much of his inspiration.
