Lauren Conrad’s 7 Absolute Best Outfits of 2014

It’s fascinating to me that I’ve been obsessing over Lauren Conrad’s outfits since…my freshman year of college when Laguna Beach premiered. Even if some of those early looks make us cringe now, she’s forever had her finger on the zeitgeist of what we want to shop, and this year was no different, with chic, girly outfits it’s hard not to love (her wedding dress, included!).

LC’s a good reminder that monochrome doesn’t have to mean the exact same shade. Her melange of army greens looks chic and comfy.

There’s nothing not simple about this combo, but it stands out to me for how very right every little detail is. The thin striped sweater that hangs to hip level, the basic bucket bag, and her rich tortoiseshell sunnies. Every single piece is a workhorse item you’d wear again and again.

Even her take on tough leather-look black skinnies felt a bit preppy thanks to the striped button-down and skimmers.

Denim and black is a new modern pair that’s easy to pull off (copy her lead and pick a light wash, since darker styles don’t provide quite the right amount of contrast). Full disclosure: After I saw this pic for the first time, I completely accessory-stalked her and bought the same Elizabeth and James bag. It’s amazing.

From the front view, I wasn’t as in love with this summery look—it looked like a beyond-basic skater skirt and T-shirt. From the side, though, it’s a different story. I adore how what seemed like a simple tee actually has that long knotted tail.
