Target has just announced that it has a new plus-size clothing line joining the fam next month called Ava & Viv. It will hit stores mid-February and is composed of both basics and trendier pieces and will retail between $10 and $80.
“We’re stepping up our fashion game for our plus-size guests,” a senior vice president for the brand, Stacia Andersen, said. “From original prints to the attention to detail and fit, this line is meant to impress, and we can’t wait to share it with our guests.”
While there’s a blogger connection, all pieces were designed by Target’s in-house team, not an outsider. Instead, the girls (Gabi Gregg, Chastity Garner, and Nicolette Mason) got a preview at the Minneapolis HQ and a chance to offer some input.
Chastity’s name sound familiar? She’s the blogger who publicly boycotted Target’s Altuzarra collection when it failed to include plus sizing. More recently, she shared her support of the decision to include larger sizes in the brand’s Lilly Pulitzer collaboration by urging followers to actually, ya know, open their wallets.
“This collaboration is a huge opportunity for plus-size shoppers to vote with their wallets and show Target you want plus sizes to be included in designer collections. If you love it, then shop it. The opposite is true as well. Don’t vote and we won’t likely be seeing plus sizes included in future collaborations.”
