The Fashion Police brouhaha is continuing over at E, where new host Kathy Griffin has announced plans to abruptly leave the show. Griffin, who only assumed the post in January, has filmed seven episodes of the fashion-comedy-critique show, after the untimely death of its founding host, Joan Rivers.

Tonight, Griffin tweeted the following:

The network later released this statement regarding Griffin’s exit: “We wish her all the best and are grateful for her time on the show, as well as the many laughs that she gave us all. Fashion Police will return, as scheduled, on Monday, March 30, at 9 P.M. with our talented cohosts Giuliana Rancic and Brad Goreski and executive producer Melissa Rivers. No further information is available at this time.

As you recall, the show suffered blowback after Rancic referred to Zendaya’s dreadlocks hairstyle at the Oscars as smelling of “patchouli oil…or weed.” Rancic has since apologized publicly, but that didn’t stop fellow cohost Kelly Osbourne from stepping down from her post in protest late last month.

Rumors about Osbourne’s replacement have swirled ever since, ranging from NeNe Leakes to Khloe Kardashian (who has reportedly shown interest in the gig).
