Things Are Changing a Little at J.Crew—Here’s What to Expect

After ending last year with financial numbers that weren’t too hot, J.Crew Group Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Mickey Drexler has said the brand is tweaking things just a little. “This ain’t brain surgery. We are getting back to who we are in a much quicker way,” he told WWD. “The changes are in the stores right now to a degree.”

That means a lot more color, bringing classic items back into the mix, and enlarging the selection of pants on offer. “Very cool classic clothes with a certain evolution of J.Crew style,” Drexler explained. According to the brand, those classics include things like chinos and the Regent blazer (a perfect example of a basic tweaked just enough to feel new). International expansion was also something cited as a future project. “We find J.Crew is an international language,” Drexler said, and I’m tempted to believe it if these snaps of chic Parisian girls styling the brand are any indication.
