Time has released its annual list of the year’s 100 most influential figures, and among the titans and visionaries (ahem, Tim Cook and Ruth Bader Ginsburg) are a few fashion luminaries.
In the feature, Diane von Furstenberg is celebrated by Jessica Alba, who writes that the designer “made her own destiny,” and Alexander Wang is honored by Karlie Kloss, who recalls meeting the designer when she was just 15.
“Her signature wrap dress is made for modern life,” DVF’s Alba-penned praise reads. “It’s built for speed, sophistication, and simplicity. And it doesn’t deny a woman’s femininity—it celebrates it. Just like the designer herself.”
The cover honor this year goes to Kanye West, who has made strides to put his fashion career in the spotlight, though interestingly, the piece doesn’t mention any of those efforts.
