Maybe it’s the rising temperatures or maybe it’s the slight sun-kissed glow we’re already sporting. Whatever the reason, now is right about that time of year when we start itching to show a bit more skin—but still want to remain chic and, um, fully clothed. Because, let’s face it, beyond the beach, not only are bra-tops decidedly unflattering on most people, but the look also falls a bit shy of appropriate.
Here are four ways we are showing a bit more skin this summer without baring it all.

Ladylike Crop Tops. A shrunken top doesn’t have to be reminiscent of a look out of Clueless or make you feel half-naked. With a high-waisted skirt—revealing just the perfect sliver of skin—the trend can be quite elegant.

Open Backs. If you prefer to cover up in front, balance it out by letting loose a bit in the back. Whether it’s a plunging backline, or simply an exaggerated cutout (for those who need a bit more support), take advantage of the jacket-less season and show some skin!

Interesting Cutouts. Fake the crop-top look by opting for a dress or top with a cutout at your waist. This summery style doesn’t reveal any cleavage, require you to go braless, or expose any skin that may feel inappropriate. In short, it’s a great way to add a bit of flair to an otherwise simple silhouette.

Off-the-Shoulder. This is, perhaps, one of our favorite summer trends. It flatters every body type, allows us to indulge in a bit of our bohemian side, and is a fun and easy way to show a bit of skin this summer. Whether it’s an elegant balloon sleeve or casual ruffle neckline, there’s an off-the-shoulder look for every occasion this summer.
