Until October 25 Rome will be even more glamorous and elegant, but it is not by chance. This is an exhibition of one of the big names in the fashion world, the Tunisian Azzedine Alaïa. With an extremely sophisticated work, the pieces of Alaïa reminds us artworks.
Entitled Couture / Sculpture, the exhibition will be on display in the Galleria Borghese in Rome. There are eight pieces that are alongside artists such as Bernini and Canova.
Today 75-year-old Alaïa studied sculpture in his youth at the École des Beaux-Arts in Tunis. He went to Paris in 1975 and worked as assistant of Christian Dior, Guy Laroche and Thierry Mugler, where he got enough experience to open his own atelier. Alaïa gained visibility in the 80s when dressing celebrities like Grace Jones, Tina Turner, Madonna, Janet Jackson and Naomi Campbell.
