Kim Kardashian’s 2009 Closet is the Best Throwback Moment You’ll See Today

The year 2009 doesn’t sound like ancient history, but in Kim Kardashian style years, it’s forever ago. Before she adopted a wardrobe based exclusively on neutral monochrome looks and Kanye overhauled her closet (making her cry in the process), there was Kim 1.0. She was friends with Paris Hilton, Reggie Bush’s main squeeze, and like many of us, fell prey to some of the most iffy fashion trends of the aughts. Don’t believe us? There’s video to prove it!

In this 2009 clip we found on YouTube, Hollyscoop.com takes us into Kardashian’s so-early-aughts-it-hurts closet.

We don’t want to judge (because, let’s be honest, any documentation of our style from that moment would be an ode to ’00s trends we’d rather forget), but if we had to make a list of what we think would make current-day Kim (and Kanye and North) wince, it would read as follows:

– The size. Even if that walk-in is larger than most closets, her current one is reportedly cavernous (Kendall Jenner told us she’s gotten lost in it before).

– The thick plastic hangers and general lack of organization. Kim’s always seemed to be a very organized person, so the smashed-together clothes (on chunky hangers no less) would probably give her heart palpitations.

– “Legging jeans.” We love skinnies, we love flares, we love overalls…we love a lot of denim but the jegging is a style we’ve happily shelved.

– The crochet beanie. A floppy, feather-trimmed style definitely had it’s moment, but we couldn’t imagine Kim covering up her lustrous locks with a hat in 2015.

– The zebra print blazer. The bold print, the bedazzled shoulder pads, the closures…all combined! This is more or less the exact opposite of the reality star’s current color-free sleek styling.

– The “elegant” wrap. There’s absolutely no mistaking that current Kim would not be caught near that pom-pom trim.

– The metallic Louis Vuitton bag. It-bag fatigue is only a relatively new phenomenon. In the mid-2000s, standout shapes and colors like Kim’s chromed out top-handle were seriously cool. Now she’s more likely to wear a sedated classic or go totally bag-free.
