6 Gorgeous Gowns You Need to See From the Venice Film Festival Red Carpet

The Venice Film Festival kicked off yesterday and, my, what a stylish way to end the summer for a clutch of stars! The world’s most stunning supermodels were out in full force at last year’s festival, but this time we’ve got Diane Kruger, Elizabeth Banks, and some international actresses shaping up to be real competition.

Kruger wore a pale silver Prada gown with an embellished cape that turned into an elegant train. The design has a retro vibe to it, but there’s a sexy, modern element too: Ties at the side allow for the dress to dip down and show some skin near her waistline. Her clutch is Lee Savage and jewels are Kwiat.

The pale color scheme continued with Banks, who picked snowy white Dolce & Gabbana for the Everest premiere (erm, coincidence?). Oversize gem stones lined the waist, neck, and shoulders, and she accessorized with a Dolce & Gabbana clutch.

Between the cape and ribbon-cinched, open back of Banks’ dress, the twosome’s chat offered up a much needed view from behind.

The biggest princess moment of the night belonged to Spanish actress Goya Toledo, who looked stunning in this Elie Saab couture gown. It was styled nearly identical to how it came down the runway, right down to the skinny belt and dangling earrings.

Just like last year, Alessandra Ambrosio was on hand to bring her brand of beach goddess to the carpet. This filmy white dress is by Philosophy.

Aussie actress Radha Mitchell picked a midnight-blue Marchesa gown with a high leg slit that allowed her to stroll the carpet (and show off her platform heels). Her jewelry is by Irene Neuwirth jewels, and the clutch is Kara Ross.

There was a touch of gold courtesy of model and actress Kasia Smutniak, who picked this high-neck Valentino dress. It must have looked gorgeous when she walked: Individual panels started at the waist, evoking delicate butterfly wings.

And, OK, it’s not a gown but we loved this striped two-piece look Ambrosio wore when arriving to her hotel too much to not include (consider it a bonus!). It’s a more casual look from Philosophy, the same label that crafted her gauzy white red-carpet gown.
