As you probably may know, Louis Vuitton presented their cruise 18 show last week at the Miho Museum near Kyoto, Japan. The show was spectacular, however, behind the scenes weren’t as joyful for some. Danish model, Ulrikke Hoyer, claimed being mistreated by the brands casting director, Ashley Brokaw.
Hoyer, who has been a model for Louis Vuitton for the past several seasons had apparently become fat. A few weeks before the show she attended her fitting and came out with an outfit they made specially for her. However, two weeks later, when she attended the fitting in Tokyo, the outfit did not fit her anymore, according to Brokaw. Alexia Cheval, Brokaw’s assistant sent an email to Hoyer’s agent saying: “Nicolas Ghesquière was aware she was a 92 hips and fit her in a dress where hips were hidden. She came yesterday in Tokyo to do her final fitting, and she doesn’t fit the exact same dress anymore. She has a belly, her face is more puffy and the back of her dress is open and you can see it is tight.” For that matter, Cheval canceled Hoyer for the show and told her she was fat and that she should only drink water for the next 24 hours.
Hoyer posted a long statement on Facebook and Instagram explaining what had been said to her. However, Brokaw claims that no one would ever say something like that to a model, that Hoyer must have misunderstood her assistant as apparently, she was telling her to drink water to beat the jetlag. Since the social media posts, Brokaw has received numerous death threats to her and her children. She says: “I’ve been in this business for over 20 years and I have never experienced anything like this, it’s horrific.”
On the other side of the story, Hoyer now claims having received many emails from other models claiming to have received the same treatment. At present times, Hoyer and Brokaw are still in conflict, Louis Vuitton refused to make a statement.
